SYNOPSIS

En 1866, alors que la Vénétie est sous occupation autrichienne, la comtesse Livia Serpieri s'abandonne à une passion fatale pour un lieutenant ennemi. Son amour la conduira à trahir sa cause. Une tragédie lyrique et historique où la somptuosité visuelle de l'opéra se met au service des passions humaines.

SYNOPSIS

In 1866, while the Veneto region is under Austrian occupation, Countess Livia Serpieri succumbs to a fatal passion for an enemy lieutenant. Her love leads her to betray her cause. A lyrical and historical tragedy where the visual splendor of opera serves the intensity of human passions.

Luchino Visconti (1906-1976)

 

Homme de théâtre et d’opéra, il est aussi l’un des grands maîtres du cinéma italien. Il a d’abord été l’une des figures du néoréalisme (Ossessione, La Terre tremble) avant de se tourner vers un cinéma plus flamboyant et lyrique. Sur les 14 films qu’il a réalisés, on citera Bellissima (1951), Senso (1954), Rocco et ses frères (1960), Le Guépard (1963), Les Damnés (1969), Mort à Venise (1971) et Ludwig (1973) .

A man of theater and opera, he is also one of the great masters of Italian cinema. He was initially a key figure in neorealism (Ossessione, La Terra Trema) before transitioning to a more flamboyant and lyrical style of filmmaking. Among the 14 films he directed, notable works include Bellissima (1951), Senso (1954), Rocco and His Brothers (1960), The Leopard (1963), The Damned (1969), Death in Venice (1971), and Ludwig (1973).
