Among the Roma at the end of the 19th century, on the fringes of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the proud horse thief Zobar and the beautiful Rada experience a love story as fiery as it is doomed. A blend of folklore, mysticism, and passion, this is a magnificent tragedy with the echoes of both a fairy tale and a western.

Emil Loteanu (1936-2003)
Originaire de Moldavie, Emil Loteanu est un cinéaste romantique et lyrique du cinéma soviétique. On lui doit des œuvres au style visuel unique, où la couleur, la musique et les paysages subliment des histoires d’amour passionnées et tragiques, comme Les Léoutars (1972), Les Tsiganes montent au ciel (1976) ou Un accident de chasse (1978).
Emil Loteanu (1936-2003)
Originally from Moldova, Emil Loteanu is a romantic and lyrical filmmaker of Soviet cinema. He is known for works with a unique visual style, in which color, music, and landscapes enhance passionate and tragic love stories, such as Lăutarii (1972), Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven (1976), and A Hunting Accident (1978).
