SYNOPSIS

Fresque grandiose et décadente, Ludwig retrace le destin tragique de Louis II de Bavière, roi solitaire et mélancolique. Obsédé par l’art, la musique de Wagner et la construction de châteaux de conte de fées, il voit son règne s'achever dans la folie et la solitude. Un  chef-d’œuvre.

SYNOPSIS

A grandiose and decadent fresco, Ludwig traces the tragic fate of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, a solitary and melancholic monarch. Obsessed with art, Wagner’s music, and the construction of fairy-tale castles, his reign ends in madness and isolation. A masterpiece.

Luchino Visconti (1906-1976)

 

Homme de théâtre et d’opéra, il est aussi l’un des grands maîtres du cinéma italien. Il a d’abord été l’une des figures du néoréalisme (Ossessione, La Terre tremble) avant de se tourner vers un cinéma plus flamboyant et lyrique. Sur les 14 films qu’il a réalisés, on citera Bellissima (1951), Senso (1954), Rocco et ses frères (1960), Le Guépard (1963), Les Damnés (1969), Mort à Venise (1971) et Ludwig (1973) .

Luchino Visconti (1906-1976)

 

A man of theater and opera, he is also one of the great masters of Italian cinema. Initially a leading figure in neorealism (Ossessione, La Terra Trema), he later shifted toward a more flamboyant and lyrical style. Among the 14 films he directed, notable works include Bellissima (1951), Senso (1954), Rocco and His Brothers (1960), The Leopard (1963), The Damned (1969), Death in Venice (1971), and Ludwig (1973).
