SYNOPSIS
D’origine géorgienne, il est de ces réalisateurs qui ont fait la grandeur du cinéma soviétique, tout en se heurtant aux tracasseries du régime. Après la mort de Staline, Quand passent les cigognes devient un symbole du dégel et remporte la Palme d’or à Cannes en 1958. Suivront deux autres films magnifiques : La Lettre inachevée (1960) et Soy Cuba (1964).

SYNOPSIS
Of Georgian origin, he is one of the directors who shaped the greatness of Soviet cinema, while constantly clashing with the regime’s bureaucratic interference. After Stalin’s death, When the Storks Fly (The Cranes Are Flying) became a symbol of the Thaw and won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 1958. It was followed by two other magnificent films: The Unfinished Letter (1960) and I Am Cuba (1964).
